| GAS SPRINGS |
|
ATLAS
Atlas is the standard gas spring produced by
VAPSINT.
It is formed of a steel cylinder containing
pressurised nitrogen and a rod that slides
inside held by a sealed guide.
The pressurised gas gives a thrust in proportion
to the diameter of the rod. Atlas springs are
used to counter-balance the lift of heavy
equipment, such as rear car doors, furniture
doors, sports equipment, hospital beds, etc.
Their function in similar to a mechanical spring,
but differs in that they have a very low thrust
augmentation.

RAPID-FIT
RAPID-FIT is the ATLAS gas spring for the car
field.
RAPID-FIT is the rapidly mounted attachment
that was first developed by VAPSINT in 1995.
The main adventage of RAPID-FIT is the ease
an speed with which it is installed, and
furthermore with its articulated movement it
adapts to all the various inclinations of the door.

FIX-IT
Further to specific market requests, VAPSINT designed
the FIX-IT gas springs for the furniture field:
design;
-
easy to install;
-
adjustable length;
-
rust-proof;
are the most important features of FIX-IT.
FIX-IT has a very slender line and rounded end, with a
minimum visual impact and enhances further the design
of the furniture. FIX-IT attachments and gas spring form
a single built-in lifting system that is easy to mount and
adjust.
FIX-IT cannot be installed wrongly, there is only one
direction: the cylinder upwards and the rod downwards.
The stainless steel rod is totally rust-proof to guarantee
longer life. FIX-IT is available transparent, grey or
metallic finish, or for special needs various colours are
available (see the colour range).

DIFFERENTIATED THRUST
Thanks to the special valve on the piston, a gas
spring with differentiated thrust requires a force to
close the rod that is 10/20 kg greater than that
required to open it. The valve only acts when the
rod is being closed, to prevent that any weight on
the load could cause the spring to close.
Gas springs with differentiated thrust are used in
those applications which require:
- an external force to lift the door (for example by
hand);
- the stroke is blocked when there is no longer
any external force.

|
FREE-STOP
FREE STOP is a "friction stroke" gas
spring, with a modified piston that increases
the sliding friction on the rod during opening
and closing.
The advantages given by FREE-STOP are
that it helps in lifting a door, which can be
stopped at any intermediate position
between open and closed. FREE-STOP is
used in the highest hanging units, to
prevent the door opening to height that
would be hard to reach from the floor.

NEUTRO FREE-STOP
NEUTRO-FREE-STOP is a special
attachment applied to ATLAS
springs to provide extra stroke
friction. The special extension
means the door can be opened in
two different phases: in the first the
door is opened to a preset position
using the active thrust of the gas
spring; in the second the door can
be opened further by hand.

GAS-S-TOP
GA-S-TOP is a gas spring with a stroke
that can be blocked in any position, thanks
to the button that acts on a special valve
inside the cylinder.
GA-S-TOP is generally used to adjust
office chairs, push-chair backs, hospital
beds.
It can be supplied with elastic or rigid block,
with the button on the rod or on the
cylinder.
With special wiring and levers, the valve
can be remotely manoeuvred.

|

|
PUSH-TOP
PUSH-TOP is a spring that can be
mechanically blocked in the fully extended
position.
The mechanism looks like a metal bell that
covers the stroke of the gas spring.
This special mechanical block is used as a
safety system to prevent the doors
suddenly closing.

|
DAMPERS
Hydraulic dampers are zero-thrust cylinders
without gas that have special hydraulic friction that
dampers and slows down a closing door or a
moving mechanical part.
On request, dampers can be produced specially
to absorb vibrations in complex mechanical
systems, such as washing machines, seats and
small vehicles.

ATLAS-INOX
ATLAS-INOX is entirely made in
AISI 304 and 316 stainless steel.
They are installed in all those
applications that must be rust-proof
and nonmagnetic.
ATLAS INOX are widely used in
the pharmaceutical, chemical,
food, naval and electronics
industries.
